    About this calculator

    Formula: Working days = total days − Saturdays − public holidays · 2 inputs · step-by-step working

Nepal observes a one-day weekend (Saturday). This tool counts working days between two dates, skipping Saturdays and the national public holidays in the Government of Nepal’s official lists for BS 2082 and 2083 (14 April 2025 to 13 April 2027).

    Formula

Working days = total days − Saturdays − public holidays

    How to Use

Pick a start and end date. Both the start date and the end date are included in the count. The result lists each holiday it removed, so you can check it against your office calendar.

    How the working-day count works

The calculator goes through every calendar day from the start date to the end date, including both, and puts each day into one of three groups: Saturday, national public holiday, or working day.

    • Working days = total calendar days − Saturdays − public holidays.
    • Saturday is the only weekly day off. Sunday to Friday all count as working days.
    • A public holiday that falls on a Saturday is counted once, as a Saturday. In BS 2083 that happens four times: Constitution Day (19 September 2026), Fulpati (17 October 2026), Martyrs’ Day (30 January 2027) and Maha Shivaratri (6 March 2027).
    • The result shows the working days, the three parts of the sum, and the name and date of every holiday it removed.
    • The end date must be the same as or later than the start date. A single day counts as 1 working day unless it is a Saturday or a public holiday.

National public holidays for BS 2083 (2026/27)

These are the national holidays from the Ministry of Home Affairs notice for BS 2083, published on 18 Falgun 2082 (2 March 2026). The calculator also carries the BS 2082 list, so any range from 14 April 2025 to 13 April 2027 is covered.

Nepal’s festivals follow the lunar calendar, so their AD dates move every year. Only the national holidays below are removed; regional and group holidays are listed in the note.

    Worked examples

    • January 2026 (1 to 31 January): 31 calendar days, 5 Saturdays and 4 holidays (Prithvi Jayanti, Maghe Sankranti, Sonam Lhosar and Martyrs’ Day), so 22 working days.
    • Dashain fortnight (11 to 25 October 2026): 15 calendar days, 2 Saturdays and 7 holidays (Ghatasthapana and six weekday Dashain days; Fulpati falls on a Saturday), so 6 working days.
    • November 2026: 30 calendar days, 4 Saturdays and 6 holidays (five Tihar days and Chhath), so 20 working days.
    • Leave request (14 to 27 September 2026): 14 calendar days and 2 Saturdays. Constitution Day falls on Saturday 19 September, so no extra holiday is removed and the leave uses 12 working days.
    • Whole BS year 2083 (14 April 2026 to 13 April 2027): 365 days, 52 Saturdays and 26 holidays, so 287 working days, or about 24 a month.
    • Across the year end (20 December 2026 to 15 January 2027): 27 calendar days, 3 Saturdays and 5 holidays (Yomari Punhi, Christmas, Tamu Lhosar, Prithvi Jayanti and Maghe Sankranti), so 19 working days.

Nepal’s working week and other schedules

    • Government offices and most organisations in Nepal work Sunday to Friday, six days a week. A 30- or 31-day month has 4 or 5 Saturdays, so without holidays it has 25 to 27 working days, against 20 to 23 on a Monday–Friday week.
    • Some employers, including many IT companies, NGOs and firms with foreign clients, also close on Sunday. The calculator removes Saturdays only, so for a Monday–Friday schedule subtract the Sundays in your range as well.
    • A notice that says “30 days” without the word working usually means calendar days; count those with the Day Counter. Use this calculator when the document says working days.
    • The Nepali fiscal year ends on the last day of Asar (16 July 2026 for FY 2082/83), a common cut-off for budgets, project work and office deadlines.
