What is a Nepali (Bikram Sambat) age calculator?
A Nepali age calculator takes your date of birth in the Bikram Sambat calendar — year, month name (Baisakh … Chaitra), and day — converts it to the exact Gregorian calendar date, then measures how many full years, months and days have passed as of a reference date.
This is different from typing your DOB directly in an English calendar, because most Nepalis learn their birthday in BS first, and government-issued documents often headline the BS line. A dedicated BS tool removes conversion errors and matches how parents, school offices, and ward administrators actually speak about birth dates.

Spelling varies (Nepali Unicode vs Romanisation). Month lengths (29–32 days) are determined by the official civil calendar table for each BS year, not by the English month boundaries.

- Nepal’s fiscal year runs 1 Shrawan – last day of Ashadh (roughly mid-July to mid-July AD). Tax, school enrolment, and many procurement deadlines quote BS dates.
- Local government (ward/municipality) registers and recommendation letters often open with BS dates.
- School-leaving certificates and grade sheets print BS birth dates prominently even when AD also appears.
- Traditional rites (Bratabandha, wedding muhūrat) are chosen from the lunar Bikram Sambat panchānga — a different layer from civil BS, but the same cultural frame.
